Privacy Policy
Kraverse lets you upload map sheets, download them to your phone, and use them offline with your GPS position. This policy explains what information the app and website handle, why, and what control you have. Questions: info@kraverse.com.
Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, an optional phone number, and your password (stored only as a one-way hash). We use them to create and secure your account and to send verification and password-reset codes by email.
- Your map sheets: the PDF files you upload and the images and map details we produce from them, so that you can download them to your devices.
- Devices: a random identifier generated by the app, the device name, the platform (Android or iOS) and the app version, so that we can show and manage the devices on your account.
- Download records: which of your sheets was downloaded, on which device and when.
- Terms acceptance: which version of the Terms and Conditions you accepted, and when.
- Payments (only if subscriptions are switched on): subscription and transaction records. Card and other payment details are handled by our payment provider, Paystack, and are not stored by us.
Information that stays on your phone
Your GPS position, compass heading, markers, recorded tracks, saved routes and downloaded sheets are stored on your phone. The app does not send your position, markers or tracks to Kraverse servers. The app uses your location while it is open, and in the background only when you record a track or use turn-by-turn directions (and, if you choose that setting, whenever a map is open). You can change this under Settings → Location → Background GPS, or in your phone's system settings.
Services that receive limited information
- Road routing: when you ask the app for a road route, the start and end coordinates are sent to a public routing service (OSRM) to calculate the route. No account details are included.
- Fonts: the app downloads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google receives the phone's IP address when it does.
- Email delivery: verification and reset codes are sent through our email provider.
- Payments: Paystack, only when subscriptions are on.
We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising, and the app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, your account details, devices, uploaded sheets, download records and subscription records are deleted from our database, and the stored sheet files are removed. Routine server logs and backups may keep traces for a short additional period before they are overwritten.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: in the app, open Settings and tap Delete account, then confirm with your password. This is permanent.
- Delete a sheet: in the Sheets screen, open a sheet's menu and choose Delete from account.
- Access or correct your information: email info@kraverse.com from the address on your account. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the European Union and the United Kingdom, or similar laws elsewhere), you may have further rights, including to receive a copy of your information, to object to processing, or to complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
Connections to Kraverse use HTTPS. Passwords are hashed, and the sign-in token on your phone is kept in the device's secure storage. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
Kraverse is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email.
